JRL calls for shutdown on Maqbool Bhat, Afzal Guru anniversaries | KNO

Complete shutdown to be observed on 9th and 11th February and memorandum will be handed over to UN on 11th February

Srinagar (KNO) The struggle and sacrifices rendered by great leader of Kashmiri freedom struggle martyr Muhammad Maqbool Butt and son of Kashmir Shaheed Muhammad Afazl Guru is a glorious chapter of our resistance history. Indian not only hanged these Kashmiris at gallows but also has kept their mortal remains under its custody till now. The struggle, passion for freedom and sacrifices of these great Kashmiris will always remain a beacon light for Kashmiri Nation. This was stated by the joint resistance leadership comprising of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik while announcing a comprehensive protest program in connection with the martyrdom days of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Muhammad Afazl Guru. Furnishing the details of protest on these days, JRL said that on the martyrdom day of Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru on Friday, 9th February, a complete protest strike will be observed across the valley and peaceful protests will be held to press on the demand of returning mortal remains of these martyrs. A memorandum will also be read and passed by people in every Masjid on the occasion. Recalling the sacrifice of Martyr Muhammad Maqbool Butt, a complete shutdown will be observed on Sunday, 11th February 2018. Besides this protest shutdown, Kashmiris will march to United Nations observers’ office at Sonwar Srinagar and present a memorandum to UN secretary general demanding for the return of mortal remains of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru. Terming the the struggle and martyrdom of great resistance leader martyr Mohammad Maqbool Butt as a glorious chapter of history, JRL said that his struggle and sacrifices will always guide us through the tough journey of freedom struggle. JRL said that Maqbool Butt strived for freedom of Kashmir and kissed gallows for the sacred cause. While remembering the sacrifice rendered by son of Kashmir Muhammad Afzal Guru, JRL said that Martyr Afzal kissed gallows and refused to surrender before tyranny. He said that the way Indian state hanged these Kashmiris illegally on the pretext of satisfying collective conscience of Indians is a glaring example of Indian oppression and tyrannical attitude. JRL said that Kashmiris will never forget these sacrifices and will keep demanding for the mortal remains of their loved ones. Appealing people of Jammu Kashmir to make JRL protest program successful, JRL leaders said that Kashmiris will observe complete shutdown on 9th and 11th February 2018. On 9th February, besides complete shutdown, protests will be held at various places demanding the mortal remains of martyrs. On 11th also besides a complete and comprehensive strike, people of Kashmir will march to UN office Sonwar and present a memorandum to UN secretary general and demand the return of mortal remains of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool butt and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru.
